The story in brief

  • UK investment: around £500 million has been announced for engineering and manufacturing expansion.
  • Jobs: the published plan targets 1,000 new UK roles by 2032.
  • Current cars: explore Artura, 750S and GTS with McLaren Hatfield or McLaren New Forest.

The confirmed news

A substantial commitment to British engineering

The announcement published on 16 September sets out around £500 million of investment, expansion of McLaren’s research and production operation in South Yorkshire, and a new UK vehicle production facility.

It also sets a target of 1,000 additional UK jobs by 2032. These are announced plans and targets; they describe the investment programme, not work already completed.

McLaren’s own 22 September announcement connects the investment with its wider brand direction. For guests interested in a car now, the next step is to compare the current range and available individual vehicles.

From McLaren’s announcement

The ambition behind the investment

The public announcement includes a statement from Nick Collins, Chief Executive of McLaren Group Holdings and McLaren Automotive, about investing in the business and advanced UK manufacturing.

For an owner or prospective buyer, the important distinction is between this long-term programme and the specification of a car being offered today. Current model details, warranty terms and the proposed vehicle’s build remain the basis of that purchase conversation.

“We are investing in the future of McLaren and in advanced manufacturing in the UK.”

Your journeys, your specification

Put the current range in context

Start with the journeys you want to make. Explain whether you are looking for a coupe or an open-top car, how often you expect to travel with luggage and which comfort features are essential.

Then compare real build specifications. Paint, wheels, seats and interior finishes can make two examples of the same model quite different propositions.

For an approved used McLaren, add the individual car’s history, mileage and preparation to that discussion. Our teams can explain the available vehicles and the support attached to them.

Before your visit

A focused McLaren appointment

Contact your chosen retailer with the models you want to see. The team can confirm cars, timing and the most useful appointment for your enquiry.

  • Pick a starting model. Tell the team whether Artura, 750S or GTS is your main interest.
  • Choose a body style. Discuss coupe and Spider availability where offered.
  • List essential equipment. Compare build sheets on a consistent basis.
  • Ask about the individual car. Confirm condition, history and the applicable ownership support for a used vehicle.
