The 7th May 1963 marks the day that Ferruccio Lamborghini founded Automobili Lamborghini. Since then, the company has faced many ups and downs, several owners and management teams, and yet now, over 50 years on, they are still very much considered as one the best super sports car brands in the world.
Here Grange take a look at the cars, the masterpieces, that make Lamborghini such an iconic and much-loved marque.
The first Lamborghini model to be officially mass-produced and it became an instant success. 120 units were produced, and the model features the 3.5 litre, 12-cylinder engine and 320 CV. Two Spyder versions were also created.
Production began in 1966 and the model features the 4 litre 12-cylinder engine which was the same that was used in the last 23 350GT models that were produced. It was the first Lamborghini four-seater model.
This model changed the automobile world. Featuring a V12 engine, the iconic model redefined the concept of a sports car and became the fastest production car in the world.
This model was the 400GT successor and had its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in 1968, which highlighted its impressive engine output and overall performance.
This model was also revealed at the Geneva Motor show in 1968 and went on to have a successful ten years in production that experienced several modifications, however the design of the bodywork remained almost untouched.
As one of Ferruccio's favourite models, the Jarama was conceived for the gentleman driver as it was designed to combine the perfect mix of elegance, power and luxurious comfort.
The Urraco was the result of Lamborghini needing to build a model that was less expensive and with reduced displacement. The model delivered pure driving comfort in the form of a four-seater sedan.
This model was both stunning to look at in design and also offered unrivalled top-notch performance. The 4 litre V12 engine was also mounted length wise and produced 375 CV.
The Silhouette was the evolution of the Lamborghini Urraco. There was only 53 units built and the last unit was used and tested as the Jalpa prototype. The V8 engine has a power output of 250 CV and a top speed of 260km/h.
The last V8 model to be produced by Lamborghini and considered to be the natural evolution of the Silhouette. It marked the history of super sports cars.
Known as the car that paved the way for off-road cars, the LM002 was the first off-road model produced by Lamborghini and it made its debut at the Geneva Auto Show in 1982 and began production in 1986.
This model was the one that made the bosses at Lamborghini dreams come true. The Diablo had a top speed of 325km/h meaning it could go from 0-100km/h in just 4.5 seconds.
The design of the Murciélago tributes the true iconic style and DNA of Lamborghini combining the structure of the Countach, the sensuousness of the Miura and the impressive proportions of the Diablo.
This model was the perfect super sports car that was ready for day to day driving. Its performance was mirrored by its athletic design.
The model that become Lamborghini's most powerful, fast and extreme model – delivering excellent handling, acceleration and safety features.
The model highlights extensive modifications from the previous Murciélago models, giving it its own character and roadster driving feel. The model, including the passenger seat has been designed completely around the driver to deliver a truly driver focused experience.
The Reventón Spyder was a limited edition work of art for Lamborghini. Only 20 units were built, but it featured one of the most powerful engines in the world – Lamborghini's 12-cylinder engine.
This model became the new benchmark for open-air super sports cars with a brand-new engine and permanent all-wheel drive that delivers a truly superior performance compared to the previous Gallardo model.
The Coupé featured a stunning muscular shape with elegant contours and a front end that has been completely redesigned to feature triangular and trapezoidal forms. The bodywork was a true representation of Lamborghini's body language.
2009: The Lamborghini Murciélago 670 Superveloce This model delivered a driving experience that was more powerful, lighter and faster than its previous models. Advanced technology and lightweight construction was key in the design and production of this Murciélago model.

A limited edition model that saw only 50 units produced in total. The Murciélago 650 Roadster features the new 6.5 litre V12 engine.

This model redefined Lamborghini's elegance design as it pays a tribute to the 150th anniversary of the Italian unification. Featuring the Italian strip across the bodywork, the Gallardo Bicolore emphasises the ‘Made in Italy' label wherever it is in the world.
The Gallardo RWD 550-2 Spyder is a stunning combination of elegant design with open-air driving. A super sports car with unbelievable agility and imperious handling.
