Bentayga or Bentayga EWB?
One is Bentley’s versatile luxury SUV. The other gives rear-seat journeys a different emphasis. Discover where the Bentayga Extended Wheelbase adds space, and what that means for your own specification.
At a glance
- 180mm more: Bentayga EWB extends the wheelbase and overall length, with the benefit focused on rear legroom.
- Compare V8 with V8: the current core models share a 4.0-litre V8; seating and packaging still need separate consideration.
- Choose the cabin first: passenger priorities, seat configuration and real luggage should shape the decision before individual finishes.
The luxury of room to settle in
Bentayga EWB is a compelling choice when the rear cabin is an important part of the journey. Its additional length is not simply a larger exterior: Bentley directs the extended wheelbase towards rear passenger space.
The standard-wheelbase Bentayga remains a natural starting point when you want the Bentley SUV experience in a shorter body. Compare the two around the people who travel most often, rather than assuming the longer car is automatically the better fit.
The dimensions that change the decision

Current manufacturer UK V8 technical data checked 20 October 2026. The EWB adds 180mm to both overall length and wheelbase. Dimensions are manufacturer figures, not measurements taken by Grange.
Sit in the rear before deciding
Ask to compare the rear seating position with the front seat set for your normal driver. Check knee room, the ease of getting in and the support you prefer on longer journeys.
Bentley’s current EWB model uses a 4+1 layout as standard. It combines two principal rear seats with the flexibility of a central position; check the exact seating configuration on the vehicle you are considering.
Standard wheelbase, considered in its own right
Bentley lists four- and five-seat configurations for Bentayga, with a 4+1 arrangement among the options. That makes the seating order an important part of the specification, rather than an assumption based on the model name.
For a family car, try the actual passenger combination you expect to carry. The centre position, seat belts and rear-seat arrangement matter more than a general description of “five seats”.
A longer car still needs a parking plan
At 5,305mm, the EWB asks for 180mm more length than the standard Bentayga. Measure your garage and regular parking space with room to walk around the car and open the doors.
Both manufacturer specifications give the same 2,222mm width across the mirrors. EWB length does not solve a narrow entrance, so include the approach angle and door access in your assessment.
Bentley lists All-Wheel Steering and Bentley Dynamic Ride for the current EWB. Ask the Grange team to explain the specification of the particular car, especially when comparing stock of different model years.
More rear legroom does not mean a bigger boot
Bentley’s current V8 technical tables quote 484 litres for Bentayga and 380 litres for Bentayga EWB. Those published figures should be read with the seating specification, rather than extrapolated to every possible layout.
The EWB’s key advantage is rear passenger space. If luggage is decisive, ask to load the cases, golf bags or mobility equipment you actually carry into the exact car.
A four-seat cabin and a family-focused seating arrangement can serve very different routines. Settle that requirement before choosing a long list of comfort options.
The V8 makes this a clear comparison
Both core V8 models use Bentley’s 4.0-litre petrol engine, quoted at 550PS and 770Nm. This lets you consider body length and cabin priorities without comparing two different powertrains.
The wider standard-wheelbase Bentayga offering also includes a hybrid. That is a separate charging and usage decision; it should not be treated as the same specification as the V8 models compared here.
Craftsmanship, chosen at close range
The Bentayga cabin allows a carefully coordinated choice of hides, veneers, stitching and other finishes. View physical samples together: a colour on a backlit screen is only the beginning of the decision.
For the standard Bentayga, Bentley lists the Seat Comfort Specification among the options for heating, ventilation and massage at the front. Confirm exactly what is fitted when comparing a new build with an available stock car.
Consider the controls your guests will use
Rear passengers should be comfortable with the cabin controls as well as the seating. Ask the team to demonstrate the equipment on your chosen specification while seated in the positions you will use.
Compare the reach, visibility and operation of the controls before ordering additional features. A personally chosen cabin should feel effortless to its regular occupants.
Choose the driver’s environment too
The EWB’s focus on rear comfort does not remove the importance of the driving position. Check the view through the windscreen and the relationship between seat, steering wheel and centre console.
Bentley manufacturer images may show a different market’s steering position or optional finishes. Use the exact UK order specification to confirm equipment rather than relying on the photographed car.
Bring the whole specification together
A veneer choice changes the feel of the doors as well as the dashboard. Coordinate it with the hide and stitching, then consider the wheel design against your exterior colour in daylight.
Mulliner offers further established finishes and personal commissioning possibilities. Availability and the scope of an individual request should be agreed with the Grange Bentley team before it becomes part of your order.
