Vantage S: Coupe or Roadster?
The same Vantage S character, with two different ways to enjoy it. Choose the roof around the journeys you want to make, then build the specification around you.
At a glance
- Coupe: the fixed-roof choice for drivers who want a permanently enclosed sports-car cabin.
- S Roadster: open-top driving without leaving the Vantage S range.
- Shared appeal: a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, two-seat layout and distinctive S detailing.
Start with the roof
Choose the Vantage S Coupe if the fixed roof is part of the appeal. It gives the car its continuous roofline and enclosed-cabin character.
The Vantage S Roadster adds the choice of driving with the roof down. Consider how often you would use that flexibility on your favourite routes.
Both are current versions in Grange’s Vantage range. The useful question is which body you will most enjoy living with, rather than which looks best on a specification sheet.
Keep the S specification in focus
Aston Martin’s Vantage S uses a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 with 680PS and 800Nm. Its eight-speed automatic transmission sends power to the rear wheels.
The S also brings its own chassis tuning and visual detailing. When comparing quotations, make sure both cars are S versions and the equipment you want is included.
Avoid transferring a performance figure from an ordinary Vantage or a different body style. Ask for the current UK specification for the exact car you are considering.
Choose the cabin you want to spend time in
The S cabin combines its sporting identity with material and colour choices. Aston Martin describes an Accelerate leather-and-Alcantara interior and embroidered S seat detailing.
Spend time in the actual seat specification you are considering. Check the driving position, support and adjustment before deciding on upholstery, trim or optional equipment.
The tactile drive-mode control is another useful item to explore during your appointment. Understanding the controls while stationary lets the conversation focus on your preferred driving character.
Make the body-style check practical
For the Roadster, ask the specialist to demonstrate the roof and explain its operating conditions for your chosen model. View the cabin with it both raised and lowered.
For either body, check entry and exit where the door cannot be fully opened. Bring your regular weekend bags and confirm their fit in the actual luggage compartment.
Then consider where the car will live. Garage access, available door clearance and the way you normally pack can make the choice clearer.
The photographs also show different seat, wheel and colour specifications. Treat those as individual choices and confirm the equipment included in your quotation.
