Discovery Sport: five seats or seven?
Room for the people who matter, and the things that come with them. Choose your Discovery Sport around the journeys you make together.
Decide how often you need the third row
If your family usually travels as four or five, start by considering your everyday luggage and passenger space. If school runs or weekends regularly bring an extra passenger or two, explore a Discovery Sport with 5+2 seating.
The two additional seats bring flexibility, but they change the space left for bags. Try the layout with the people who will use it, rather than treating “up to seven seats” as a promise that every Discovery Sport has a third row.
Five seats and plug-in hybrid power
The current UK technical specification lists the P270e plug-in electric hybrid with five seats. It is the option to explore if a five-seat layout fits your family and you want to discuss how regular charging could work around your journeys.
If seven seats are essential, tell your Grange team before comparing engines or editions. Ask them to identify a suitable seven-seat derivative and confirm its complete UK specification.
Check the boot with all seven seats in use
For the 5+2 configuration, Discovery’s UK 2026 technical sheet quotes 115 litres behind the third row and 657 litres behind the second row, using the dry, solid-block measurement method. These are different seating configurations, not interchangeable boot figures.
The same sheet gives larger “wet” volumes, calculated by simulating liquid filling the space. Use one measurement method when comparing cars, then check whether your pushchair, school bags or weekend cases fit through the opening.
Make the rear-seat check personal
Discovery describes the extra seats as occasional seating in its UK seven-seat guide. Ask each regular passenger to try access, leg room and the view out, with the second row positioned as it would be on a normal journey.
For younger passengers, bring the child seats you intend to use and check the approved seating positions and fitting instructions with the team. A brochure photograph cannot confirm compatibility for a particular child seat.

Your questions answered
Does every Discovery Sport have seven seats?
No. Check the exact derivative and its seating specification. The current UK P270e plug-in electric hybrid is listed with five seats.
How much boot space is left with seven seats in use?
The UK 2026 technical sheet lists 115 litres behind the third row for the 5+2 layout using dry, solid-block measurement. Bring your own bags to check the usable shape.
Can I compare the five-seat and seven-seat boot figures directly?
Only when the seating positions and measurement method match. Dry and wet volumes use different methods; also check whether a quoted figure is behind the first, second or third row.
