Station Wagon or Quartermaster?
An enclosed load area or an open pickup bed? That is the starting point when choosing your Grenadier, followed by engine, trim and the equipment you need.
The story in brief
- Station Wagon: an enclosed passenger and load area for people, luggage and equipment.
- Quartermaster: a double-cab pickup, with a bed designed to accommodate a standard Euro pallet.
- Shared capability: permanent four-wheel drive, low-range gearing and up to 3,500 kg braked towing.
Start with what you carry
Two bodies, one practical question
The Station Wagon keeps passengers and luggage within an enclosed body. Quartermaster separates the passenger cabin from an open load bed. Your regular load is the simplest way to decide which arrangement is more useful.
Both use a ladder-frame chassis, permanent four-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission. INEOS offers BMW-sourced six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines in the UK range.
Explore current Grange INEOS offers, then talk to Edinburgh or the Midlands about the body and specification you want to compare.
The enclosed body
Station Wagon: passengers and protected luggage
INEOS’s Station Wagon information quotes more than 2,000 litres of load space with the rear seats folded. That is a maximum carrying configuration, not the boot capacity with all passenger seats occupied.
For family and leisure use, try the seating and rear-door access with your normal requirements in mind. For equipment, check the dimensions and how you would secure the load.
The cabin includes physical controls for vehicle functions and a central display. Ask the retailer to explain the off-road controls and the equipment on the specific car rather than assuming every trim has the same hardware.
The pickup body
Quartermaster: a separate working space
Quartermaster has a double cab and a load bed that INEOS says can take a standard 1,200 × 800 mm Euro pallet. The current UK model information quotes payload up to 857 kg, depending on configuration.
Payload includes what the vehicle carries, so discuss passengers, accessories and your usual equipment together. Ask for the limits of the actual vehicle you intend to order.
An open bed can be useful for bulky or muddy items. If security and weather protection matter, include the proposed bed cover and accessories in the quotation from the outset.

Trims and current updates
Fieldmaster, Trialmaster and model year 2026
Fieldmaster’s listed equipment includes Safari windows and comfort features. Trialmaster’s specification adds front and rear differential locks and off-road-focused equipment. The UK pages advertise both editions from £71,995; options and final specifications affect the quotation.
The 2026 update announcement identifies revised steering with variable assistance, a five per cent reduction in turning circle and climate-control changes. Ask the team to confirm whether a stock car has these model-year updates.
If your plans include off-road use, describe the terrain and equipment you expect to need. The most relevant configuration is the one that matches that use, not simply the trim with the longest list of features.
