Grange Racing by FSR has secured the British GT Championship GT4 Pro-Am title in its first season of competition, capping a remarkable debut campaign with victory at Donington Park on Sunday 6th September.
The result saw the newly formed team claim its fifth consecutive GT4 Pro-Am class victory, with Grange Racing team leader and three time Le Mans class winner Darren Turner and Dan Lavery delivering another strong performance in challenging wet/dry conditions to seal the championship with one race still remaining.
The achievement is particularly significant for Grange Racing by FSR, which only made its British GT debut in 2026. For Lavery, the season has also marked his first campaign in the championship, making the title success a major milestone for both driver and team.
The Donington Park race was far from straightforward. Challenging weather conditions shortly before the race meant that Lavery had to begin the two-hour race on wet tyres from the front row of the GT4 grid and GT4 Pro-Am pole.
Despite the difficult conditions, Lavery maintained second place early in the race and held the GT4 Pro-Am lead for the opening 30 minutes. As the track began to dry, the Grange Racing by FSR crew made the decision to switch to hot slick tyres. The move immediately paid dividends. Although Lavery initially dropped to 10th in class, he began setting significantly faster lap times than the cars still running on wets, at one stage gaining as much as seven seconds per lap on his rivals. His progress was briefly interrupted by a Safety Car period following an incident involving a GT3 car, but Lavery continued to make ground before handing the car over to Turner with 58 minutes remaining.
Turner rejoined fourth in GT4 and leading the Pro-Am class, with the team’s strategy having put the car in a strong position for the closing stages. He maintained the advantage to the finish, bringing the Grange Racing by FSR Aston Martin home fourth in GT4 and securing the Pro-Am class victory.
For Grange Racing by FSR, the championship represents the highest point of an impressive first season. The team has steadily developed into a competitive force throughout the campaign, with the Donington Park victory extending its winning run to five consecutive GT4 Pro-Am races.
The Grange Racing by FSR team’s success keeps Turner and Lavery firmly in contention for the overall British GT GT4 Championship which concludes on 25-26 September at Brands Hatch. As Grange Racing by FSR head to Brands Hatch, they are currently sitting third in the standings, just 10.5 points behind the leaders, with 37.5 points still available at the season finale, an opportunity that is remarkable for a debut British GR season.
