BENTLEY · YOUR BUYING GUIDE
Continental GT or GTC?
Coupé or convertible: find the Continental that suits the journeys you want to make.
Your quick guide
- GT: fixed-roof coupé. GTC: folding fabric-roof convertible.
- The standard UK versions share Bentley’s 680 PS High Performance Hybrid system.
- Compare equivalent derivatives, then explore cabin finishes, luggage needs and current Grange Bentley offers.
Two ways to travel
The roof changes the experience
The Continental GT is Bentley’s fixed-roof coupé. The Continental GTC is its convertible counterpart, with a folding fabric roof. Both carry the Continental’s grand-touring character, but offer a different way to enjoy the journey.
A GT puts the coupé’s continuous roofline at the centre of its design. A GTC gives you the choice of an enclosed cabin or an open-air drive. Bentley describes a four-layer roof on the current standard GTC, with black, blue or grey fabric choices.
If you are drawn to the convertible, look at it with the roof both raised and lowered. The roof colour becomes part of the exterior specification, so it is worth considering alongside the paint, wheels and interior hide.

The cabin is part of the decision
Choose the view from your seat
The GT and GTC each offer a detailed commissioning experience. The current GT imagery pairs Cricket Ball hide with walnut veneer; the GTC imagery pairs Linen and Imperial Blue hide. Those photographs show particular specifications rather than the only interiors available.
When viewing a car, take time to compare the seating position, your view through the windscreen and the materials you will see and touch most often. Exterior photographs can begin a shortlist, but the cabin is where the choice becomes personal.
If you normally travel with passengers, invite them to assess the space too. For longer trips, bring the dimensions of your regular luggage and ask the team to check the boot arrangement on the exact car. That is more useful than comparing a luggage figure from a different generation.
V8 power, electric flexibility
Compare the same powertrain first
The standard GT and GTC combine a 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine with an electric motor. Bentley calls this the High Performance Hybrid system and quotes 680 PS and 930 Nm for both standard models.
Charging regularly gives you opportunities to use electric driving for suitable journeys, with the V8 available when required. Discuss where you can charge, how you use the car and the specification you are considering before choosing your routine.
Bentley also uses the Ultra Performance Hybrid name on more powerful derivatives. Keep body style and derivative separate when comparing: a standard GT against a standard GTC answers the roof question cleanly. Then explore the wider specifications with the team.
Your questions answered
What is the difference between Continental GT and GTC?
The GT is a fixed-roof coupé; the GTC is the convertible with a folding fabric roof. Your preferred body style is the main starting point.
Are the standard GT and GTC hybrids?
Yes. Bentley’s current standard models use the High Performance Hybrid system, combining a 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine with an electric motor.
Do they have the same power?
The standard UK High Performance Hybrid GT and GTC are each quoted at 680 PS and 930 Nm. Other derivatives use different specifications.
Which roof colours are listed for the standard GTC?
Bentley lists black, blue or grey fabric for the standard GTC roof. Confirm the available finishes for your chosen derivative when specifying the car.
How should I compare new and pre-owned examples?
Check the generation, model year, derivative and engine or hybrid system first. An older GT or GTC may have a different powertrain and equipment from the current cars described here.
Where can I discuss a Continental with Grange?
Contact Bentley Chelmsford, Bentley Hampshire or Bentley Tunbridge Wells. The team can discuss available cars, specification choices and test-drive arrangements.
