Valhalla opens a new chapter

Aston Martin revealed the Valhalla Spider on 28 October 2026, bringing an open cockpit to its mid-engined plug-in hybrid supercar. The planned production run is limited to 249 examples worldwide.

The appeal goes beyond the removal of a roof. New roof systems, a dedicated wind deflector and a different standard seat give the Spider its own specification story, while retaining the V8-and-electric powertrain at the centre of Valhalla’s character.

Three motors, one coordinated powertrain

A bespoke 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 works with three electric motors to deliver a combined 1,079PS and 1,100Nm. Two motors drive the front axle; the third is integrated into the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and supports the rear drivetrain.

That layout allows the front wheels’ torque to be controlled individually, with an electronic differential managing the rear axle. The purpose is to coordinate the car’s responses through a corner and under acceleration, rather than simply add electric power to a petrol engine.

Aston Martin quotes 0–62mph in 2.5 seconds. These are manufacturer performance figures; the roof configuration matters when reading the maximum-speed specification.

The UK roof choice: fabric or carbon fibre

The UK specification starts with a removable black fabric roof, which can be stowed behind the passenger seat. An optional carbon-fibre hard top provides a second approach: it is removed and left behind when you want the cockpit open.

Black fabric roof

Standard for the UK specification. Removable and stowable in the car.

Manufacturer maximum with roof fitted: 124mph.

Carbon-fibre hard top

Optional for the UK specification. Remove and store away from the car for roof-off driving.

Manufacturer maximum with roof fitted: 217mph.

Aston Martin also quotes the electronically limited 217mph maximum with the roof removed. A separate rain cover is supplied for use while the car is stationary; it is not a driving roof.

When discussing a specification with Grange, begin with how you expect to use the car. Carrying the fabric roof gives you an on-board option when conditions change; the hard top calls for a different plan when leaving home with the cockpit open.

Airflow developed for the open cockpit

A clip-in wind deflector manages air over the occupants and towards the engine’s intake and cooling systems. The Spider’s reprofiled intake snorkel sits 35mm higher than the Coupe’s to suit the altered airflow.

The aerodynamic and stability-control calibrations also account for roof-on and roof-off driving. Aston Martin quotes more than 600kg of downforce with the carbon roof fitted; its published UK technical information places the downforce figure at 150mph in Race mode.

Small storage spaces with a useful purpose

Two new 15-litre sill compartments provide 30 litres of stowage in total. These are dedicated spaces within the sill areas, rather than a conventional boot-volume figure.

The wind deflector folds into three sections and can be stored in one compartment when a roof is fitted. With the deflector in use, the sealed, watertight compartments can carry smaller items.

Ask the team to explain access and the intended storage arrangement alongside the roof choice, so the practical details are part of your specification from the outset.

A new Carbon Fibre Touring Seat

The Carbon Fibre Touring Seat is standard on Spider. Its shape provides more room around the hips and shoulders, with long-distance comfort and access forming part of the design brief.

The more supportive Carbon Fibre Bucket Seat remains a specification alternative, with different seat-pad choices described in the product bulletin. The right decision depends on fit and intended use, not the appearance of the carbon-fibre shell alone.

Discuss your driving position and any plans for circuit use before settling the seat, trim and padding specification.

Braking choices for road and circuit

Valhalla Spider uses carbon-ceramic brakes, with 410mm front discs and 390mm rear discs. Optional CCM-R Plus discs offer a further specification choice for demanding track use.

The optional discs use an elongated carbon-fibre structure within a carbon matrix, developed around high-temperature braking. If circuit driving is part of your plans, ask Grange to explain the available braking specification and its ownership requirements alongside the standard system.

A focused cabin, with familiar connections

A 10.25-inch driver display and a separate 10.25-inch central touchscreen sit within a low, driver-focused cabin. Wireless Apple CarPlay and connected-car functions provide everyday connectivity alongside the car’s performance controls.

Carbon fibre, Alcantara and available leather treatments allow the interior’s visual character to follow your preferred specification. Consider the complete combination of seating, materials and controls, rather than selecting finishes in isolation.

What happens next for UK customers?

Aston Martin’s launch announcement gives Q3 2027 as the start of customer deliveries. Individual UK allocation, specification, price and delivery timing need to be confirmed with your preferred Grange Aston Martin team.

An early conversation can establish the priorities that shape a commission: roof system, seat fit, road and circuit use, finishes and the practicalities of keeping the car at home. It also gives the team a clear brief when discussing current possibilities with you.

Your questions answered

How many Valhalla Spiders will be made?

The planned production run is 249 cars worldwide. That figure does not establish the number of UK or Grange allocations; discuss current possibilities with your preferred team.

Which roof is standard in the UK?

The removable black fabric roof is standard for the UK specification and can be stowed behind the passenger seat. A carbon-fibre hard top is optional. The static rain cover is not intended for driving.

Is Valhalla Spider a plug-in hybrid?

Yes. It combines a twin-turbo V8 with three electric motors. Final official WLTP fuel-consumption and CO2 figures remain subject to homologation; published performance figures are manufacturer data.

When will deliveries begin?

Aston Martin’s 28 October 2026 announcement states that customer deliveries start in Q3 2027. Your individual UK specification and timing require confirmation with the Grange team.

How do I discuss UK pricing and specification?

Contact Grange Aston Martin in Birmingham, Brentwood, Edinburgh or Hatfield. Ask the team to confirm current UK pricing, allocation and the cost and availability of your chosen options.
