The story in brief

  • A competition first: Benoît Mouquet won the FRCE group and e-Rally5 class at the French Slalom Cup Final.
  • A versatile programme: the A290 Regional Trophy combines rallying, hill climbs and slalom.

The new milestone

An electric first in slalom

Benoît Mouquet has become the first driver to win the FRCE group and e-Rally5 class at the French Slalom Cup Final in an Alpine A290 Rallye. The result at Croix-en-Ternois is reported in Alpine’s 2 October update on the inaugural Regional Trophy season.

This is a class-winning achievement, adding to a competition programme that takes the electric A290 Rallye into several different disciplines. It gives Alpine enthusiasts another reason to follow the marque beyond its endurance-racing and Formula 1 activities.

The customer-racing story

One trophy, three disciplines

The Regional Trophy combines rallying, hill climbs and slalom. Competitors can build their score across different events, with a coefficient system used to balance the disciplines and the six best scores counting towards the final classification.

Alpine’s standings dated 1 October 2026 placed Denis Ridel first, Pascal Janel second and Mouquet third. The trophy’s inaugural winner is scheduled to be confirmed on 18 October.

For fans, the mix of formats is part of the appeal. A car and driver face a different challenge on a rally stage, a hill climb and a slalom course, while staying within the same customer-racing programme.

The A290 for everyday journeys

An electric hot hatch with practical space

The road-going Alpine A290 brings the brand’s sporting character to a five-door, five-seat layout. Alpine’s UK information lists up to 220 hp for the range and 326 litres of boot space.

Its Formula 1-inspired steering wheel and Google built-in multimedia are useful details to explore alongside the cabin and driving position. Equipment varies by version, so ask the team to show you the features on the A290 you are considering.

When you visit, think about your regular passengers, luggage and where you could charge. Those everyday details help you decide which specification works for you, alongside the performance and design that drew you to Alpine.
