A290, A390 or A110: which Alpine?
An electric hot hatch, a five-seat sports fastback or a two-seat coupé. Three different ways to enjoy Alpine, with different strengths for everyday life.
The story in brief
- A290: a five-door electric hot hatch, currently advertised from £30,245 including the £3,750 Electric Car Grant.
- A390: a three-motor, all-wheel-drive electric fastback with five seats, from £61,390.
- A110: the petrol sports coupé is now a remaining-stock purchase rather than a new factory configuration.
Start with how you use it
One badge, three different roles
The most useful Alpine comparison starts with your week. Will this be the car for commuting and passengers, or a two-seat sports car for journeys you choose to make?
The A290 and A390 both offer five seats and electric power. The A290 is the compact hatchback; the A390 adds a larger fastback body and all-wheel drive. The A110 keeps the mid-engined, rear-wheel-drive format that made the modern Alpine name familiar.
Our Alpine Edinburgh team can talk through the current range, stock and a suitable test-drive appointment.
The compact electric choice
A290: five doors, everyday flexibility
A five-door layout and a quoted 326-litre boot make the A290 worth considering when a sports car still needs to carry passengers and shopping. Its cabin includes a 10.1-inch multimedia display with Google built-in; audio and upholstery choices depend on the version.
Alpine’s current UK page lists GT+, GT Performance+ and GTS+ at £30,245, £32,745 and £34,245 respectively, including the £3,750 grant. The range offers up to 220 hp and up to 226 miles WLTP; these are range-wide maximums, so check the figures for the exact version you choose.
If most journeys begin and end at home, discuss charging alongside the car. Knowing where you would plug in is more useful than treating the maximum range as a promise for every trip.
The electric fastback
A390: more room, three motors
The A390 has three electric motors and Alpine Active Torque Vectoring, which adjusts how power is delivered across the driven wheels. Both GT and GTS have five seats, so the performance step does not mean giving up the rear bench.
Alpine’s UK GT specification quotes 400 hp and 661 Nm, with prices from £61,390. The GTS moves to 470 hp and a quoted 0–62 mph time of 3.9 seconds. Alpine advertises up to 345 miles WLTP for the GT with optional 20-inch CRISTAL wheels, plus DC charging at up to 190 kW.
For an A390 appointment, bring a typical longer journey to discuss. The team can help compare wheel choice, route planning and the charging facilities you are likely to use.

The two-seat alternative
A110: a different reason to choose Alpine
Alpine confirms that the current A110 can no longer be configured to order; the purchase route is through the remaining cars available from its network.
That changes the conversation. Rather than selecting every option for a new build, compare the specification of the actual car: seats, wheels, interior finish and any equipment that matters to you. Ask Edinburgh about current new-car stock and approved used alternatives.
The A110 makes sense when two seats are enough and a dedicated petrol sports coupé is the aim. The electric cars offer different body styles for drivers who need more passenger flexibility.
