In a bold move blending tradition and innovation, Chevrolet’s latest Corvette model—the E-Ray—is making waves. According to a recent review by Auto Express, this hybrid variant doesn’t just tinker around the edges — it “ticks all the right boxes” when it comes to performance, driveability, and technology.
The E-Ray retains a 6.2-litre V8 at the rear, augmented by an electric motor powering the front axle, delivering a combined output of 635 bhp and four-wheel drive capability. Auto Express notes that its 0–62 mph time of 2.9 seconds and top speed of 180 mph place it firmly in supercar territory.
That said, performance isn’t the only highlight. The test drivers remarked on the finesse of the suspension, the feel of the steering, and the overall composure—even in damp road conditions. The hybrid system also offers a stealthy electric “creep” mode for quiet, low-speed motoring.
Pricing in the UK is steep, but not uncompetitive. The Auto Express review points to a base cost of around £153,440, which is significantly lower than some of its mid-engine rivals. The article suggests that while the E-Ray may not outshine a Ferrari 296 in every metric, it offers tremendous value given what it delivers.
Whether looked at as a bold experiment or a logical evolution of the Corvette lineage, the E-Ray is already making a strong case. If the final verdict hinges on balance between character and modern hybrid performance, this review suggests Chevrolet may have struck gold.
