Charging your Bentley hybrid
A plug-in hybrid fits most naturally around the places you already park. Here’s what to check when planning charging for a current V8 Continental GT, GTC or Flying Spur.
At a glance
- Current V8 hybrids: the GT, GTC and Flying Spur technical sheets list a 25.9kWh battery.
- Charging reference: Bentley quotes 2 hours 45 minutes on suitable fast-charging equipment—not every domestic setup.
- Start with your parking: supply, charger compatibility and cable reach matter as much as the headline figure.
Make charging part of your normal parking
For a V8 plug-in hybrid Continental GT, GTC or Flying Spur, regular charging gives you the opportunity to use electric driving on suitable journeys while keeping the petrol engine’s flexibility for longer trips.
Start with the place the car spends the night, or a dependable workplace charger. Can you park there consistently, reach the charging socket comfortably and connect without obstructing a walkway?
If home installation is needed, arrange an assessment of the property and electrical supply before choosing equipment or relying on a completion date. A charger’s advertised output is not a guarantee of the rate available at your home.
What does the published charge time mean?
Bentley’s current 27MY Continental GT and Azure, Continental GTC and Azure, and Flying Spur and Azure technical sheets each list a 25.9kWh battery and a 2 hour 45 minute charging reference on fast-charging equipment. The documents also make clear that domestic times vary.
For the Continental GT Speed, Bentley’s hybrid technology page publishes an 11kW peak charging power and replenishment in as little as 2¾ hours. That is a manufacturer figure under suitable conditions, not a fixed appointment length for every recharge.
Your starting charge, battery conditions, the car’s specification and the available charger and supply affect the result. Ask for the charging information for your exact Bentley; do not apply one figure to an older V6 hybrid or a different model.
Choose the setup, not the biggest number
A useful home-charging quotation covers the installation as well as the wallbox. Ask the installer to confirm the available output, any electrical work needed, cable reach and how the equipment will be positioned around the way you park.
For public charging, check the connector and charging type accepted by your particular car before planning a stop. A high output printed on a charging post does not mean that power will reach a vehicle whose own charging capability is lower.
Compare the price shown for your payment method and any parking, session or overstay charges. Charging while the car is already parked for dinner or at a hotel can be a more natural routine than making a separate trip solely for a top-up.
Get familiar with My Bentley
Bentley describes connected functions for checking battery charge, starting charging remotely when the car is connected to suitable equipment, and planning around a departure time. Its charging-point services can also help locate stations.
Ask your Grange Bentley team to demonstrate the functions supported by the exact car and your account. Confirm any activation, connectivity, subscription and service-availability conditions rather than assuming every used Bentley has the same connected package.
Before the first overnight charge, learn how to connect and release the cable, recognise a charging session and set the schedule. Follow the handbook and charger instructions; a simple, repeatable routine is the goal.

Choosing a new or pre-owned hybrid?
When comparing cars, request the individual vehicle’s model year, hybrid system and charging specification. Current V8 figures should not be used as shorthand for every Bentley carrying a Hybrid badge.
Grange’s verified Bentley retailers are Chelmsford, Hampshire and Tunbridge Wells. Bring your usual daily mileage and parking arrangements to the conversation, alongside the specification you want.
Browse current Bentley offers and discuss the car and charging setup together. Confirm vehicle and appointment availability before travelling.
Your questions answered
How long does a current Bentley V8 hybrid take to charge?
The current 27MY GT/Azure, GTC/Azure and Flying Spur/Azure technical sheets quote 2 hours 45 minutes on suitable fast-charging equipment. Domestic times vary; use the specification and charging conditions for your exact car.
Will every home charger achieve that time?
No. The available supply and equipment, vehicle specification, starting charge and battery conditions all matter. Have the installer assess your property and confirm the expected setup.
What battery size do these current models have?
The cited current V8 Continental GT, GTC and Flying Spur technical sheets list 25.9kWh. This is the published battery capacity, not a measure of electricity billed for every charge.
Can My Bentley help with charging?
Bentley describes battery-charge information, remote charging and departure-time functions. Confirm the services supported by the individual vehicle and account, including applicable availability and subscription conditions.
Do the same figures apply to an older Bentley hybrid?
Not automatically. Ask for the exact model year and powertrain’s charging specification rather than applying current V8 figures to another hybrid system.
