Vanquish: Coupe or Volante?
A fixed-roof silhouette or an open-air V12 soundtrack. Choose the Vanquish that makes the journeys you look forward to feel even more special.
One V12 character, two ways to enjoy it
Choose Vanquish Coupe for the fixed-roof silhouette and an enclosed cabin on every journey. Choose Vanquish Volante when the opportunity to lower the roof is central to the experience you want.
Both current UK model pages specify a 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 producing 835PS and 1,000Nm. The meaningful starting point is how you want to spend time in the car, rather than treating the open-top version as a different engine proposition.
The Volante roof is part of daily use
The K-Fold soft-top opens in a manufacturer-quoted 14 seconds and closes in 16 seconds, at speeds of up to 31mph, subject to the vehicle’s operating conditions. Its canopy incorporates eight layers of insulation material.
Try the roof in both positions at your appointment. Consider your usual journeys, how frequently you would lower it and how the cabin feels with the roof raised. Ask for the handbook’s clearance and operating guidance for the exact car.
Compare the cabin, not just the view
The Coupe creates a permanent roof line above its two front seats. Volante changes the light and atmosphere around the occupants when open, while retaining a driver-focused centre console and physical controls for frequently used functions.
Sit in each with the driving position set correctly. Check entry and exit, visibility and the controls you reach for most. A short list of the journeys you want to make will give the comparison more purpose than an options list alone.
Decide on seating before planning your luggage
Aston Martin’s current UK pages also present a 2+2 arrangement for Vanquish, with Volante explicitly describing it as optional. The extra rear seats are presented for occasional use; do not assume that every available car has them.
Choose the layout around the passengers and bags you genuinely carry. Ask the team to confirm the configuration, then try access and your usual luggage in that exact arrangement. The space behind the front seats should not be assumed to remain identical after a seating change.
Keep the complete specification in view
Roof preference is the first decision; seating, materials and individual options follow. Compare cars with the equipment you intend to order, so a particular seat or finish does not inadvertently decide the body-style question for you.
A Grange Aston Martin specialist can help turn those priorities into a coherent specification. Confirm current UK ordering possibilities, the resulting quotation and a suitable car to view before travelling.

Your questions answered
Do Coupe and Volante have the same engine output?
The current UK model pages quote 835PS and 1,000Nm from a 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 for both. Confirm the full specification and model year of the car you choose.
How quickly does the Volante roof operate?
Aston Martin quotes 14 seconds to open and 16 seconds to close, at up to 31mph, subject to the vehicle’s operating conditions. Follow the handbook for your car.
Does every Vanquish have four seats?
No. The current UK pages show the standard two-seat specification alongside a 2+2 arrangement, explicitly optional for Volante. Confirm the build, suitability of the occasional rear seats and luggage space with the team.
