The launch range of the all-new Nissan Micra, sees the eagerly anticipated 1.0-litre engine version being rolled out at dealerships across the country. Offering an excellent balance of performance and running costs, the three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine is linked to a five-speed manual transmission. This highly efficient powertrain results in official Combined Cycle fuel economy of 61.4mpg and CO2 emissions of 103g/km when running on 15 or 16-inch wheels. The new Micra is also a fantastic car to drive, with a dynamic performance that is the perfect balance between agility, excitement and the secure feeling that comes with confident and predictable handling. Stoke-on-Trent City Council has taken delivery of a fleet of six New Citroen C3 models. This is one of the first major orders for New C3 from a public sector organisation. The fleet is finished in a wide range of colours, taking full advantage of Citroen's bi-tone colour schemes for New C3. All models are powered by Euro-6 diesel engines, which meet the most stringent European emissions regulations yet. On-board equipment includes satellite navigation for each car. "This is a significant public sector order for New Citroen C3," said PSA Group UK Fleet Director Martin Gurney. Following on from the car's launch at the beginning of January, he said: "It shows that New C3 offers a competitive edge in a sector where there is tough competition. We take it as a compliment that a demanding public sector customer such as Stoke-on-Trent City Council has chosen to do business with Citroen once again." Citroen secured the order following a competitive tender process. The New C3 met all the requirements specified by Stoke-on-Trent City Council.

The production of Volvo Cars' new XC60 mid-size SUV, which replaces Volvo's highly successful original XC60 has begun. The XC60 is the fourth model based on Volvo's in-house-developed SPA vehicle architecture, following the introduction of the top-of-the-line 90 series. This vehicle represents around 30% of Volvo's total global sales and in the nine years since its launch, it has become the bestselling premium mid-sized SUV in Europe. Vice president of the Torslanda plant where the car is being produced, Magnus Nilsson said: "This is a proud day for everyone at the plant. We have worked hard in recent weeks and months to prepare Torslanda for this latest new Volvo model, and now we are ready to start delivering new XC60s to customers."
Audi is to expand its portfolio with two new Q models. The Audi Q8 is to give the brand a premium SUV in a coupe style that combines great spaciousness with emotive design. It will incorporate the latest technologies in assistance and infotainment systems. It will be built in Bratislava from 2018, where the Audi Q7 is already produced. In 2019, the production of the Audi's first compact utility vehicle, or CUV, the Q4 will begin in Gyor, Hungary. It will be positioned between the Audi Q3 and Q5 and feature the typical Audi, coupe-style silhouette. States Professor Dr. Hubert Waltl, Audi's Board of Management Member for Production and Logistics, "We will integrate two completely new Q-models into the existing production network and will thus increase our competitiveness in an extremely important segment."
Vauxhall's all-new Insignia is now on sale, priced from £17,115 on-the-road. It comes as a five-door Grand Sport hatch or a Sports Tourer estate. Some of the standard features include 17-inch bi-colour structure wheels, automatic lighting control, electrically operated front and rear windows, keyless entry and start and electrically-adjustable heated door mirrors. Inside there is cruise control with speed limiter, leather-covered steering wheel with audio, phone, and cruise controls as part of the design. The Infotainment system has an IntelliLink audio system that includes a seven-inch colour touchscreen, plus Bluetooth audio streaming and mobile phone portal. In the safety stakes, it will have the Vauxhall OnStar system that incorporates their Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Front camera system along with six airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounting points on all three rear seats, tyre pressure monitoring system and security alarm system. The Jaguar Range Rover family of easily recognised vehicles include the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and Range Rover Evoque. Between them, they have transformed the fortunes of the UK's largest vehicle manufacturer. Now, a new model as joined the impressive line-up, the Velar. And in a real boost for the under pressure British car industry, the company confirmed that the Velar will be built exclusively at its flagship Solihull plant in the West Midlands. Dr Ralf Speth, Jaguar Land Rover CEO, said: "The expansion of our product range and building this British designed and engineered car in the UK is a sign of our confidence in British manufacturing. We are leading the global premium car industry with our commitment to our home market and our heart, soul and headquarters will always be in the UK." Jaguar Land Rover accounts for 85 per cent of all premium cars produced in Britain and contributes £10bn to the UK economy every year. Last year, they sold 583,313 cars - more than one every minute, 44 per cent of which were Range Rovers. Production of the Jaguar Land Rover models in the UK supports more than 40,000 British jobs and there are a further 250,000 jobs working within the supply chain.
Volkswagen all but made half a million worldwide sales in the first month of 2017. In all, 495,900 vehicles to handed over to customers throughout the world. However, this is a 4.9% fall compared with the previous year. J??rgen Stackmann, Volkswagen Brand Board Member for Sales, said that the "Volkswagen brand started 2017 successfully. Worldwide deliveries may be slightly below the value for the previous year, but this is solely due to special effects in the major market of China. All the other reported gratifying increases compared with the previous year." In Europe, deliveries rose by 4.7 per cent to 126,700 vehicles. This markets in Spain and Italy were notable for their positive sales. It was sales of the new Tiguan that was the bedrock for this improvement. In VW's home market of Germany, 38,600 vehicles were handed over to customers, corresponding to a slight fall of 5.1 per cent. Volkswagen's cars are present in more than 150 markets throughout the world and the company produces vehicles at over 50 locations in 14 countries. Currently, 218,000 people work for Volkswagen and they have 7,700 dealerships with 74,000 employees around the world. In 2015, Volkswagen produced about 5.8 million vehicles.
From the spring of 2017, the Skoda Citigo will look and drive a little different. Its new design includes a new front look with a redesigned bonnet, radiator grille, bumpers and fog lights. It will also enjoy a modified instrument cluster design and a new multifunction leather steering wheel. There will be development under the bonnet too, with a choice of two modern three-cylinder petrol engines with 60 PS and 75 PS that have high torque values with low noise levels. And specially designed 15-inch alloy wheels complete the new look. Thanks to its generous wheelbase, the Citigo already has an interior which offers sufficient space for the rear passengers. But, this new Citigo has grown by 34mm to a length of 3,597mm. The 251-litre boot capacity, which becomes 951-litres when the rear seats are folded down, ranks amongst the best in this segment. There is an excellent range of active safety features including the automatic braking function City Safe Drive and the optional Emergency Brake that helps to prevent collisions in urban traffic. The system uses a laser sensor that scans a 10-metre area in front of the vehicle and automatically activates at speeds between 3 and 19 mph. It's all part of ensuring a high level of safety for both drivers, passengers and pedestrians.
Dutch tyre manufacturer Apollo Vredestein has launched a completely new all-season tyre for the light truck and van market, the Comtrac 2. Specifically designed for safety and comfort in all weather conditions whilst carrying heavy loads, the Comtrac 2 sports new, high-quality silica compound and improved performance over its very popular predecessor. "The Comtrac 2 is a significant addition to our offerings, as vans and light trucks are common among fleets and we intend to target that sector with Vredestein's comprehensive range of products," said Country Manager Karl Naylor. The tyre has both open lateral shoulder grooves and wider longitudinal grooves so that water dispersion is optimized. It has an improved footprint and a new silica compound to give much better grip in the wet as well as lowering rolling resistance to reduce fuel consumption. And an increase in tread stiffness will give a balanced pressure distribution and reduced deformation under load. The new Comtrac 2 is available from launch in ten sizes.
