Beat the Road Tax Rules Change on April the 1st

On April the 1st the Government are introducing some changes to the Car Tax system, which means that new car tax will increase significantly. However, you can get around these new road tax rules by changing to a new car now at Grange.

This is because if you upgrade your current model before the 31st March 2017, such as from the huge range available here at Grange, you can avoid the tax increase applicable and potentially save hundreds of pounds in some instances.

If you would like further information about the 2017 road tax changes, simply call into or contact one of our dealerships today and a member of our team can talk you through the new rules and what they mean to you or read on below.

What does this mean for me?

There are big changes coming as part of the new road tax system, including a complete revision of the vehicle tax bands that will affect anyone and everyone buying a new car from 1st April 2017.

The question that you now face in light of the UK's VED tax changes is this: will you be better off buying a new car before or after the new car tax scheme comes into force? Unfortunately, the answer depends on what type of new car you're planning on purchasing and, importantly, its CO2 emissions (g/km).

Under the current VED tax scheme, most new car buyers are paying very little (if any) road tax - which is costing the Treasury millions. The new road tax changes will mean that all new cars will face a sizeable increase in its car tax amount in the first year of registration (depending on CO2 emissions).

After that it's a flat rate of £140 per year.

The table below shows what you can expect to pay for cars registered on or after the 1st April 2017.
